Did You Know?

When hunting, remember at sun up hunt higher elevations and at sundown hunt the lower elevations. This is because the daytime air flow goes up, and the evening airflow goes down and the airflow will carry your scent in that direction.

We had a visit from a hungry bear late Winter - early Spring of 2007. He tried to get into our garage to get to a 50 lb. bag of sunflower seeds (which we kept there to fill the bird feeders we keep in our backyard.) Of course, the bird feeders were empty and on the ground. He was still hungry, so he tried to get into our house and garage!

Did You Know?

Ethical Hunter

The American Indian was the original ethical hunter in Pennsylvania. Game was a total way of life and he treasured it because his very existence depended on it. His hunting skills brought not only food but skins for clothing, hides for shelter, sinew for sewing, claws for decoration and a use for most of his quarry. The Indian used the total animal but more than that, he took only what he needed, took it only when he needed it, and recognized that his future existence and that of his descendents depended on a continuing supply of game. He had a reverence for animals and was a total ethical hunter, proud of his skill but bound to use it only for a proper objective -- survival.

Did You Know?

When you use a gun during the winter, let it warm to room temperature before cleaning it and putting it away. If you store it cold, moisture may condense on the metal and cause rusting.
